Lillian Eileen Cozart Obituary
Cozart Lillian Eileen Cozart, 94, formerly of Columbus, died Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was born October 24, 1918, in Haviland, Ohio, to Henry A. Lay and Caroline Reger Lay. She married Stanley G. Cozart in 1945. She was a graduate of Bowling Green State Teachers College and the Ohio State University. She taught elementary school and for many years was a special education teacher with United Cerebral Palsy of Franklin County. She was preceded in death by her husband, September 26, 2009. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (James) Walker of Terre Haute, Indiana; son, Craig (Jane) Cozart of Pilot Hill, California; and grandchildren, Matthew Walker and Megan Walker; also special friends, Rebecca Walker Mortell, sister of James, her husband Craig; and honorary grandchildren, Kelly and John Mortell. She is beloved by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Lillian was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and, along with her husband, volunteered many years with Lutheran Social Services. She was an avid Buckeye basketball fan. She was skilled in needlework and also enjoyed travel with her husband and family. Lillian's family will honor her life with a Memorial Service, which will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Northwest Blvd., Columbus. Friends will be received from 1:30 p.m. to the time of service. Pastor Steve Wachtman, presiding over services. Private, family interment Union Cemetery.
