Wamsley, Jr. Rodney "Rusty" Lewis Wamsley, Jr., of Opp, AL, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the age of 71. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the
. Survivors include his wife, Jane; daughter, Tiffany; son, Rustin; and three grandchildren, Marissa, Caitlin, and Egan. Rusty was born August 24, 1941 in Point Pleasant, WV, where he is a member of the PPHS HOF, class of '59. He played baseball at Marshall, graduating in '63, leading the nation that year in doubles. His batting average of .471 still holds the record as the highest ever at Marshall. He declined an offer from the Phillies to provide a more stable future for his wife and future family in favor of a management position at Lazarus in Columbus, OH. He soon migrated to sales, where he forged a career of successful product launches including the Pet Rock, Fox Paw ice scraper, Village Candle, and Demdaco.
