Pohl Betty Levin Pohl, 89, of N. Miami Beach, Fl, formerly of Upper Sandusky, OH, passed away in New York City on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 after a brief illness. The daughter of Louis and Eva Levin, she was predeceased by her two loving brothers Frank and Victor and sister-in-law Geri. Betty graduated from Upper Sandusky High School and attended The Ohio State University. She later completed her AA degree at Miami Dade Community College. Betty was a co-owner of U.S. Auto Wrecking, the Upper Sandusky-based scrap metal business started by her father. She was a Lifetime Member of Hadassah, and was a founding member and first president of Hadassah's Hot Spring's Chapter. Upon moving to Florida, she was a devoted member of the N. Miami Beach Chai Chapter, where she served in a number of capacities, including Membership Chair, Corresponding Secretary and Fundraising Chair. In 2004, she was awarded the Chai Chapter's Woman of the Year and its Woman of the Century in 2012. Betty is survived by her son, Frank (Joan) of Winter Park, FL; daughter, Rhonda (Mark) of New York City; and granddaughters, Allison, Rachel and Dara. She was beloved "Aunt Betty" to many generations of nieces and nephews. Betty will be sorely missed by the many who knew, and loved, her. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8 at NEW TIFERETH ISRAEL CEMETERY, 2565 Performance Pkwy. with Rabbi Harold Berman officiating.
