Fitz Norma Fitz. Life in Columbus is dimmer, but the sky is brighter. Heaven got a star back on Friday, April 26, 2013, when Norma Fitz returned to the Father. Norma Howard Seard was born in Greenville, MS, on January 21, 1933, to proud parents Evelyn McGhee Seard and Preston Seard. Norma graduated Florida A & M University and later received her Master of Education degree from The Ohio State University. Mrs. Fitz retired from Columbus City Schools in 2009 as an Administrator. She was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church for many years, and later united with St. Paul A.M.E. Church until the time of her death. Mrs. Fitz was nominated for the Jefferson Award, and was regularly recognized by various organizations for her work in the schools, church, and community. A Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Norma was initiated into Beta Alpha Chapter while at Florida A&M (1961), was a charter member of the Psi Eta Omega Chapter (2008), and was previously a member of the Alpha Sigma Omega Chapter for many years. In addition, she was a member of the Top Ladies of Distinction and Charms, Inc. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Nathaniel E. Fitz, Jr., first husband Joseph Robinson, and siblings Mary James-Gill, Preston Seard, Jr., Barbara Joyce Clemmons, and Elbert Seard. She is survived by her children, Lynn Robinson Weaver, Constance Robinson Ranaldson, Damita Robinson-Rhea, and Kenneth Fitz; 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Anna Mercier, Marshall Seard, Arlene Gatewood, Zuri Barton, and Geraldine Henderson; and a host of other beloved relatives and dear friends. Celebration of Life 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 639 E. Long St., where the family will receive friends from 12Noon until the start of service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street.
