Jack E. Rees Obituary
Rees Jack E. Rees, age 88, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Jack was born July 5, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Roy and Pansy Rees. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Verna Rees and sisters Martha Krause and Patty Hunter. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Pam (Tim) Merkle, Jeffrey (Carol) Rees and Jackie (Doug Landgraf) Rees; grandchildren, Ashley Rees, Dustin Rees, Lauren (Robert) Beckner, Danielle (Corey) Hallion, Tyler Merkle, and Tucker Merkle; sister, Ginny Craig; and many other nieces, nephews and dear friends. Jack was a U.S. Navy, WWII and Korean Veteran as well as a graduate from Mifflin High School and Otterbein University, where he played football, basketball and golf. Jack remained a strong supporter throughout the years of Otterbein University and was inducted into the Otterbein University Athletic Hall of Fame and the Ohio Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. Jack was also a pillar in the Little Turtle Golf Club culture. He was involved on many different levels with many different groups. He was the founder of the Grey Berets, a proponent of junior golf, one of the Clubs Governors and Past President of the Columbus District Golf Association. Above all else however, Jack always remained a family man and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family. Family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd.
