Murphy Donald B. Murphy, 75, of Fostoria, passed away Sunday morning, June 16, 2013 at the Toledo Hospital. He was born May 22, 1938 in Fostoria, OH, the son of James L. Murphy, M.D. and Mary Irene (Byers) Murphy. Don was a 1956 graduate of Fostoria High School and a 1960 graduate of The Ohio State University (Bachelor's of Arts). He later went on to receive his Master's in Foreign Trade from the Thunderbird Academy in Phoenix, AZ. Don worked for the Firestone Co. in Caracas, Venezuela, later with E.F. Hutton Co. in New York City, then finally returned to Fostoria to be a real estate agent. In 1994, he joined Diane Goddard to form Goddard-Murphy Realty. He also served as President of the Board of Realtors in 1981. Early on, he developed a talent as an organist and was the organist for the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria for over 25 years. Don was a voracious reader, very interested in history, politics, and the arts. He enjoyed traveling, especially to London. He had many dear friends in Fostoria and around the world. Don was a gentleman and a gentle man. He is survived by brother, James L. Murphy DDS and sister-in-law, Susan Voorhees Murphy of Columbus; nephews, James (Rebecca) Murphy of Columbus, Taylor Byers Murphy of Columbus; niece, Sarah Henneberry of Phoenix, AZ; and grand niece, Anna Murphy of Columbus.
