Snyder (Page) Luella J. McClain Page Snyder, 85, a longtime resident of Lima, Ohio, and Venice, Fla., died early Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at The Abington of Glenview in Glenview, Ill. She was born June 10, 1927 in Allen County, Ohio to parents Harold and Virgil McClain. Growing up on a farm with her four older brothers, Ralph, Wilbur, Harold and Thurman - she was proud to have graduated first in her class at Bath Junior High School. A 1944 graduate of Lima Central High School, she went on to work for Buckeye Pipeline and Equitable Life Assurance, both in Lima. "Lu" later worked for Equitable Life Assurance in Columbus, Ohio and then as a bank teller after moving to Venice, Fla. She was well-known for her pies, fried chicken and homemade noodles. She enjoyed playing golf in the Florida sunshine, attending musical theater productions and hearing her second husband, Ken Snyder, perform in his barbershop quartet. She regularly attended Venice Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by four children from her first marriage in 1946 to Joseph Page: daughter, Cheryl (Dennis) Cullen, Northbrook, Ill.; son, Greg (Diane) Page, Glenwood, Wash.; son, Joe Page, Lima, Ohio; and daughter, Lynnea (Rick) Amweg, Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Lori Spencer, Brian Cullen, Mollie Page, Jeremy Amweg, Hannah Page Mike Page and Jason Amweg; and seven great grandchildren, Samantha Page, Daniel Spencer, Matthew Spencer, Kobe Page, Kiera Page and Anthony Amweg. She also had four stepchildren from her second marriage in 1985 to Kenneth Snyder: Bruce Snyder of Brandon, Fla., Steve (Linda) Snyder, Urbana, Ohio, Donald Snyder of Tampa, Fla., and Lucinda (Vincent) Cimino of Delaware, Ohio; as well as nine step-grandchildren and 18 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken Snyder in 2005, her parents, her four brothers and her grandson Joey Page. A memorial Service will be held June 29, 2013, at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME, 506 N. Cable Rd., Lima. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lu's life from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at which time a short eulogy and prayer service will be held in her memory.
