Williamson Dr. Clarence Kelly "Bud" Williamson went to be with the Lord Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born January 19, 1924 to James and Loretta Williamson in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a Corpsman in the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific Theater in WWII where he served proudly at Iwo Jima, Guam, and Guadalcanal. After the war, he utilized the GI Bill to attend the University of Pittsburgh, earning his Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. in Microbiology. It was there that he met the love of his life and wife of nearly 62 years, Dorothy Birgit "Bibbi" Ohlsson. He taught at Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School until moving to Oxford, OH in 1955 for a temporary teaching assignment at Miami University, where he spent the remaining 58 years of his life. He became a tenured Professor of Microbiology, later becoming Chairman of the Department. In 1972 he was appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and later, became Provost and Executive Vice President of Miami University. For three years in semi-retirement, he taught survey courses in Microbiology, which was very rewarding way for him to conclude his career. Bud was a charter member of the Oxford Rotary Club. He loved sailing his boat at Lakeside with Bibbi and his family. Bud was preceded in death by his brother William, and nephews Guy and Mark Williamson. He is survived by his wife, Bibbi; daughter, Lisa Creech (Marty); son, Erik (Judy); grandchildren, Sam, Hannah, Kelly, and Jack; sister, Mary Sims; and nieces, Lynn Williamson Behling, Teresa Williamson, and Tracey Mac. A celebration of life is planned August 23, 2013 at Oxford Bible Fellowship, 800 Maple St., Oxford at 2 p.m. with calling hours beginning at 12Noon.
