Davis Sara Jacqueline Davis, known as "Jackie," beloved aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor, companion, and Buckeye fan, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at age 87. Ms. Davis was a graduate of North High, subsequently receiving her Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University in 1948, and her Masters in Education from Xavier University in 1974. She spent her working life as a devoted and well-loved teacher first at Barrett Junior High School (1957 - 1974) and then as librarian at Beechcroft High School (1975 through the 1980's). A lifelong area resident first of Arlington and later Dublin, Ms. Davis was an enthusiastic Buckeye fan, never missing a game. She was the devoted "Mom" to her Bichon FrisÃ© named Gigi, and enjoyed the affection of her wonderful Dublin neighborhood, who always rallied to her support and returned many-fold her friendliness and zest for life. Always active, never retiring, Ms. Davis worked many years as a volunteer at Riverside Methodist Hospital, was an active parishioner at North Broadway United Methodist Church, and worked part-time at Walgreen's in Dublin. She enthusiastically pursued many lifelong hobbies including golf, tennis, bowling, travel, cooking, jogging, walking her beloved Gigi, sewing, and was past president of the Franklin County Home Economics Association. Ms. Davis was predeceased by her sister Patsy Ruth Davis McCann, and her parents Jack and Ruth Davis. She is survived by her nieces, Jacqi Stevens (and husband Chris) and Valerie Saiz (and husband Aurelio); cousin, Nettie Grace Brown; grand-nieces, Claire Stevens and Kelly Saiz; and grand- nephew, Severiano Saiz. She will be missed by all who knew her. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 East North Broadway, Columbus, Ohio 43214 with Pastor Deborah K. Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
