Edman James R. Edman, age 84, of Grove City, and Lake Worth, FL., passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Carriage Court Assisted Living. Preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Mary V. who died on February 12, 1997, and his parents Hugh D. and Edythe M. Edman. He is survived by his sister, Betty A. Houck of Fairfax, VA.; a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Retired from US Office of Personnel Management in Washington, D.C, after 33 years as a Supervisory Personnel Staffing and Management Specialist, engaged in federal investigations, inspections, examining and staffing in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, MD., Norfolk, VA. and San Juan, P.R. Jim served as US Civil Service Rep. for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands 1961-1963. Jim was a June 1947 graduate of Columbus North High School and a June 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honorary Scholastic Fraternity. He enlisted in the US Air Force at the onset of the Korean War and served overseas and stateside in The Strategic Air Command from 1950-1953. He was a member of the American Legion Paschal Post 164. Friends may visit on Saturday from 11 a.m. till time of funeral at 1 p.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City. Interment will follow at Grove City Cemetery.
