Smith Dr. Myron R. Smith, age 86, passed away December 31, 2013 at his home in Canal Winchester surrounded by his family. Born to the late Rev. T. Homer and Edith Mackey Smith on July 18, 1927 in Gawanda, New York. A graduate of Asbury College and The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Smith served as a flight surgeon and then neurosurgeon in the United States Air Force. Retired in 1976 as a Colonel with 20 years of service. From 1976-1998, he practiced neurosurgery at the Mt. Carmel Hospitals in Columbus. In retirement Dr. Smith volunteered faithfully at the Columbus Physician's Free Clinic and made numerous medical mission trips to Kenya and the Dominican Republic. Myron was a beloved and admired husband, father, physician, friend and colleague. He is preceded in death by his brother Chap. Mark L. Smith and son Timothy. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor; son, Mark (Kim); daughter, Juliana Barker (Martin); grandchildren, Erin Barker, Megan Barker, Ky Smith, Kellie Smith; brother, Rev. Theron H. Smith (Betty); cousins, Dr. Winston B. Smith (Lynn) and Shirley Smith Sims (Charles). Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4 at Faith Memorial Church, 2610 W.
