Libby was born February 15, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Walt and Elinor (Moeller) Ryker. Libby is survived by her loving sisters, Sharon R (Jerry) Kramer, Dr. Barbara R (Dave) Sturm, and Anne R (Dale) Jones; loving nieces and nephews, Allison (Steve) Heussler, Chad Kramer, Chris Jones, Greg (Shelby) Sturm, Laura (Joel) Stafford; great niece, Tabitha Marcia Grace Heussler; great nephew, David Elisha Sturm; stepmother, Debra Ryker; loving aunts and uncles, Dr. William and Ruth Whitehouse, Dr. Larry and Esther Stanton, Carol Summers, Helen Moeller; and many other relatives, caring cousins and friends. Libby graduated as Salutatorian from Southport High School in 1971 and continued on to earn her BS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1982. During her academic studies she was awarded a multitude of honors including Outstanding Senior Woman in Engineering. She worked at Chemical Abstracts for 25 years writing abstracts of scientific papers in multiple languages. She enjoyed classical music and was a talented cellist. She had an interest in nutrition and researched in depth what constituted a healthy diet. From that information she wrote a cookbook for the family. In family gatherings, Libby always had a smile and enjoyed the many happy times she spent with her nieces and nephews. Libby was a member of our sister sorority known as the "Ryker Girls" and will be deeply missed. Of highest importance to Libby was her deep relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord. She had memorized the Bible and constantly used scripture to encourage and counsel her family. Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 with visitation from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Southport Baptist Church, 2901 E Banta Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southport Baptist Church to further Libby's passion of continuing Christ's ministry.
