Jerry Limes Obituary

Limes Jerry A. Limes, 85, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed hosting parties for family and friends and for many years hosted large family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her family will especially miss Sunday dinners and her black raspberry pie. She and her husband Ralph enjoyed family vacations to the beach and cruises with her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Paul Hegenberger. Jerry cherished many lifelong friends, including the 'Gabby Girls', all of whom she knew from her high school days at Linden McKinley. She was a caregiver to many and will forever be remembered for her devotion to her family. Preceded in death by her husband Ralph, parents Oscar and Mae Elledge, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Buddy Elledge, son-in-law Don Nibert, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ernie Limes, Bill Limes, Dorothy and Jim Hannahs and Margaret and Jim Fink. Survived by children, Susan Leonard, Cinda Nibert, Carol Limes, Linda Smith, Don (Ellen) Limes and Lori (Dale) Surbaugh; grandchildren, Brad (Sarah) and Derek (Emily) Smith, Jake (Amy), Corey and Randy (Stephanie) Newman, Erin, Rachel and Kate Limes and Nick Surbaugh; six great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Paul Hegenberger, sisters-in-law, Bonnie Limes and Ruth Limes; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at The Inn at Olentangy Trail and special thanks to Melinda at Vitas Hospice. Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 16 from 2-5 p.m. at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville. Funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 18, at 10 a.m. at Blendon-Central Cemetery, 6350 Hempstead Rd, Westerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

I am so sorry I can not be there, and I will be thinking of all of you tomorrow. I know the last few years have not been easy, but you have so many happy memories of Sunday Dinners and birthday parties to remember your mom, and dad. I will remember your mom for her happy smile and the joy she felt when surrounded with you and your families. And, even though I have lived far away, she always made me feel like part of the family when I visited.

I remember Jerry from the days of Brownie Troop meetings in her basement with Mary Ellen Jervey when our children were in school. Jerry was a lovely, kind and generous lady who was a gracious hostess to our group of energetic little girls.
