Claire Elizabeth Glass Obituary
Glass Claire Elizabeth Glass, age 16, of Gahanna, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 6, 2014. She was born on June 3, 1997. Claire was a junior at Columbus Academy, where she was active in the school's Journalism Department and Social Justice and Sustainability Committee (SJSC). She spent several summers at Duke as a member of DUKE TIP. Claire had a beautiful Mezzo Soprano voice that graced the school's choir and the Columbus Children's Choir. She loved to perform on stage and was active in community theatre where she had several leads. Claire had tremendous compassion and empathy for others. As a member of Girl Scouts Troop #1342, she enjoyed various volunteer activities, especially her involvement in Special Olympics. She also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. She loved learning, had a thirst for knowledge, and was passionate about pursuing science. Claire's beautiful spirit, kindness and grace will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving parents, Donald and Bonnie (Woodfill) Glass; loving sister and brother, Emma and Max Glass; maternal and paternal grandparents, Ronald and Mary Woodfill, Donald and Ann Glass; aunts and uncles, Jennifer and Keith Fisher, Lori and Malcolm Reeve; cousins, Nicholas Fisher and Bronwyn Reeve; great-grandmother, Norma Black; extended family and many very special friends. Friends may call from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna, where a Prayer Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corner Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230. Father Theodore Sill, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Claire's memory may be made to KIVA checks payable to Columbus Academy, 4300 Cherry Bottom Road, Gahanna, OH 43230.
