Anthony Luzio Obituary

Luzio, Jr. Anthony J. Luzio, Jr. "Buddy", beloved son and brother of Tony, Carla and Erika, passed away as a result of an auto accident occurring July 4, 2005 at the age of 25. Tony graduated from Olentangy High School, Class of 1998. Following High School, Tony went on to attend The Ohio State University and Franklin University. Prior to his accident, he had been working with The Limited Brands in their security department. Tony was a young man who was full of life. He was a loyal friend to many, had a great sense of humor, and was family oriented. He was an avid reader, gifted writer and artist, and enjoyed playing blackjack and cards with friends. Most of all, Tony was happiest traveling to Florida with his family. He enjoyed going to the Cleveland Indians spring training camp in Florida with his father. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Dorothy Luzio, maternal grandparents Ralph and Ilse Decker, great grandmother Cleo McDonald, and dear friends Jason Seaman and Kevin Clark. He is greatly missed by his loving family who never gave up hope, Tony and Carla Luzio; sister, Erika (Adam) Doyle; nephew, Treyson Doyle; uncle, Dieter (Anne) Decker; aunt, Lynn Decker; cousin, Kurt Decker; faithful companion, Lily; best friends, Steve Flowers and his wife, Diane and their children, Sophia and Avery; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial presided over by Reverend Kevin Kavanagh and Reverend Jeffrey Rimelspach will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Rd. Family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. The family wishes to thank countless people for their unwavering support, prayers, commitment and dedication in their efforts to bring closure. Additionally, Tony and Carla would like to extend gratitude to Father Raymond Lavelle and Dennis and Tammy Watters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Team Watters Sonar Search and Recovery, 5893 State Route 140, Moro, Illinois 62067. Sgt. Luzio and family,

Although we often saw one anothers families outside of work, at school or community events, I never had an opportunity to know you or your family.

I know that my daughter knows your daughter and her husband and such go the connections in an area like ours is.

Even without closeness, I have thought about you and your family many times over the years since your son's accident.

I just wanted to offer you my most sincere sympathies for what your entire family have endured. I cannot imagine the strength it has taken.

I often pass the place where your son last was and my thoughts and prayers are with him and you and yours.

Tony, Carla and Erica-

Although we now know that Tony's life on this earth has been tragically cut short, truth be told he will remain in the hearts and minds of so many of us that he has impacted. When the news broke on Wednesday of Tony's car, I didn't know how to react, or even process the news. A very restless night led to Thursday. A day of mixed emotions- none of which made me feel good, I can only imagine how deep this news has resonated with you. Today I visited the pond to try and let my thoughts clear. I thought I would feel sad, cold and empty... That didn't happen. I just kept hearing Tonys unforgettable laugh, his smile, his warm and funny spirit. It made me smile. Tony always made me smile. Tony always made our (cross country) team smile. Always pranking. Always joking. Always brightening our day. What some would view as a tought workout, we viewed as a good time. It's these times, these feelings, that smile and that laugh that will lives on forever in my heart about Tony. He will be missed. And remembered.
