Daniel Vokhgelt Obituary

Vokhgelt Daniel Leo Vokhgelt, on December 2, 2014 the universe gained another Angel today. Daniel graced us with his quiet charm and gentle soul for twelve years and four months. He was kind and polite. He had an acute sense of right and wrong. He was funny, silly and had a great sense of humor. He was wise beyond his years and a boy with gentleman's manners. He was fluent in Russian and English. He loved Legos. He was wicked smart. True, everyone says that about their child, but Daniel was spectacular. Aside from being a student with a thirst for knowledge, he was a concert pianist and entrepreneur. At a very young age, he learned how to program code, he designed several apps and websites and created games. He even sold advertising and set up lemonade stands to maintain them. Eleven years of an amazing boy's journey that can be described as "too good to be true", was brought to halt seven months ago, when Daniel was diagnosed with a very rare form of Sarcoma. Throughout his battle with cancer, he challenged doctors, asked thought provoking questions and researched cures, becoming part of his treatment team. Daniel was bright enough to cure cancer. With courage beyond his years, he was always more preoccupied with the well being of other's than his own. Always the perfect host, he offered his guests goodies upon arrival, he built a robot that would roam the halls of the hospital and deliver messages to other patients, he smiled through the insurmountable pain and delighted in every visitor that came through his door. In celebration of Daniel's beautiful life, may his memory inspire all those he left behind to become better citizens, to pull strength from his and to shed light, love and courage in his honor. Preceded in death by his grandfather Leib Menachem Vokhgelt. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Elena Vokhgelt; brothers, Max, Nicholas and Leonard Daniel; sister, Yana Titova; grandparents, Nellya and Mikhail Kozlov; grandmother, Enya Vokhgelt; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 4 at Congregation Agudas Achim, 2767 E. Broad St. Burial will follow at New Temple Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donation payable to "The Columbus Foundation" at 1234 E. Broad St., Columbus 43205. (Please note in memo of contribution that funds are to support the Daniel Vokhgelt Celebration Fund). The family will receive friends and celebrate his life at Bexley Middle School on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. Online guestbook at www.epsteinmemorial.com.
