James Durrence Obituary

Durrence James "Bill" Durrence, MSgt., USAF, Retired, age 86, of Whitehall, Ohio, passed away April 9, 2015. He was born May 25, 1928 in Glennville, Georgia to the late E.A. and Ora (Martin) Durrence; also preceded in death by his wife Frances Littler (who accepted his hand in marriage on May 2, 1951), son Keith Durrence and siblings Evelyn Waters, E.A. Durrence Jr., Ed (Anne) Durrence and Marynell (Jimmy) Zettler. He is survived by his children, Michael (Tami) Durrence, Elaine (Randy) Heim and Dianne Williams; grandchildren, Christopher Durrence (Kasey Welker), Sarah Durrence, Brittany Heim (Jesse Harney), Katie (Anthony) Gurden, Julie Heim and Danny Williams; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Zachary, Sienna and Ashlynn; brothers, Merrill (JoAnn) Durrence, Jesse "Mutt" (Dot) Durrence; and sister-in-law, Doris Durrence; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill retired from English Village/Parklawn and will be remembered as a master of all trades. In addition to being a "fix-it" man, he enjoyed Euchre, gardening, occasional trips to the river, and cooking Sunday dinners for the family. He was generous, had a great sense of humor and was above all, a family man. Family will welcome friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park, Lewis Center, Ohio. Pastor Tim Burden, officiating.
