Barbara Soloway

Soloway Barbara Soloway, age 84, passed away on April 12, 2015, preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Bina Berkowicz and sister Rivka. She is survived by her husband, of 61 years, Albert Soloway; and three children, Madeleine Soloway from Atlanta, GA, Renee (Paul) Spiegler from Baltimore, MD, Paul (Deborah) Soloway from Ithaca, NY; six grandchildren, Micaela and Naomi Carolan, Rebecca and Keara Soloway, and Elana and Brian Spiegler. Born in Warsaw Poland December 2, 1930, Barbara emigrated to New York with her parents in June 1939, before the Nazi invasion. In 1953, after graduating Queens College in NYC, Barbara married Albert Soloway. Prior to moving to Worthington in 1977, Albert and Barbara lived in the Boston area for 21 years. In Ohio, Barbara regularly volunteered at The JCC teaching English as a second language. Barbara was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and regularly attended performances at The Columbus Symphony Orchestra. As an avid gardener, Barbara loved visiting The Franklin Park Conservatory and many parks in Ohio. With the loss of 27 uncles, aunts and first cousins in the Holocaust, Barbara was an ardent advocate for Israel's right to exist in peace. Barbara's family will deeply miss her love, enthusiasm, and unwavering support. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 17 at CONGREGATION BETH TIKVAH, 6121 Olentangy River Rd. with Rabbi Rick Kellner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery - Beth Tikvah section.
