Bartley Porter Obituary

Porter Bartley "Bart" Alan Porter, 55, of Pickerington, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his residence. Born on May 14, 1960, Bart was a 1978 graduate of Shawnee High School in Lima and a 1982 graduate of Bowling Green State University. Bart was a writer and wrote for a variety of publications throughout his career. He was a proud member of the Society of Professional Journalists and also a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy; daughter, Heather Marie Porter; grandson, Levi Michael Williams; sister, Lynnette Porter; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Bart was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Jimmie Porter. Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 268 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147, where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Kuenzli officiating. Donations can be made in Bart's memory to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.

I'm not sure if you remember me, but I worked with Bart at Worldcom. He was a wonderful, generous friend and made our days full of laughter. He was talented and kind-hearted, and I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers for comfort to you and your family.
