AMORY – Edward Clayton Mize, 72, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Aberdeen Care Center. Born Feb. 8, 1942, in Quincy, he was a son of Robert ""Jack"" and Dorothy Mildred Sims Mize. He married Mavis Irene Newman in 1988.
He attended Quincy and Hatley School, graduating from Amory High School. He retired from Georgia Gulf as an electrician with 37 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and being outdoors hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Robin Gill of Florida; stepsons, Steve King (Linda) of Nettleton, Ronnie King (Jane) of Mantachie and Jeff King (Stacy) of Amory; sisters, Margaret Reeves (Joe) of Quincy and Virginia Bowen (George) of Amory; 12 stepgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a stepson, Edgar Odell King; an infant sister; and two brothers, William Davis and Robert Oneal Mize.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 26, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Simmons and Bro. Jeff King officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodney King, Stephen King, Donald Denton, D.J. Denton, Mark Holley and Andrew Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Bowen, Donnie Bowen, Dow Pickle, Gary Pickle, Danny Gardner and George Wright.
