RIPLEY – Effie Mae Blythe Jackson, 91, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, to Thomas Irvin and Callie Richardson Blythe in Tippah County. Before her retirement, she was employed at Rest Haven Nursing Home in the dietary department. She also had been the owner of Country Dress Shop, Jackson Ceramics and Effie's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Palmer Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, quilting, fishing, gardening and especially genealogy. At Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home, she enjoyed reading and working word find books.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today, June 22, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley. Bro. Richie Hatcher will officiate. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Garden in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Bryant (Charles) and Glenda Hill, both of Ripley; two sons, Charles Alvis Jackson (Cheryl) and Chris Blythe Jackson (Rhonda), both of Ripley; 12 grandchildren, Lindsey Jackson, Ricky, Lucas and Tyler Bryant, Kayla, Abby and Kevin Jackson, Clinton Bryant (Marcy), Tammy Moran (Brad), Tommy Bryant (Leigh), Bryan Hill and Bradley Hill (Jackie), all of Ripley; 12 great-grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Eli, Owen, Braden Hill, Walker and Mance Bryant, Sophie Moran, Lauren, Nathen, Ashton and Avery Jade Bryant; and two great-great-grandchildren, Joseph and Kaegan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Jimmy Hill; two brothers, Malcolm Herman and Columbus Duane Blythe; and three grandchildren, Nicole Jackson, Chelsea Blythe Jackson and Jacob Bryant.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 7 a.m. to service time today at the funeral home.
