RIPLEY – Fred E. Shinall, 80 , passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born Oct. 15, 1933, to George and Patty Dees Shinall. He was a member of New Harmony Methodist Church. He loved all his family, especially the little ones. He was an avid fisherman, duck hunter and had a love for all animals. He was a farmer for 35 years, but his passion was selling at auctions for 40 years. He loved to sing and play the guitar. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Rucker Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Cathy Leathers (Greg) and Jeanne Divers (Rex), both of Ripley; one sister, Eruthie Leatherwood of Memphis; special friends, Peggy Herman and Brady Lane, both of Ripley; four godchildren, Bobby, Nathan and Robby Herman (Amanda) and Jonathan Reed; four grandchildren, Christy Murphy (Dan Bristow) of Tupelo, Robert Vincent of Ripley, Bradley Bell (Tina) of Columbus and Alex Faust (Dave) of Mooreville; six great-grandchildren, Jada, Matthew, Braylie, Darcee, Oliver and Ella, all of Mooreville; and two great-great-grandchildren, Willow and Talon of Mooreville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert Vincent, Robby Herman, Bobby Herman, Dan Bristow, Bradley Lane and Greg Leathers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Lewis, Yater Shinall, J.W. Wingo, Rex Vincent, Bradley Bell and Norris Mauney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 34 years, Kay Wingo Shinall; three infant children; one sister, Gertrude Mercer; and one brother, Melvin Shinall.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
