TUPELO – James Garner, 63, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1950, to James Garner Sr. and Madella Montgomery. He was employed with Day-Brite for 42 years before retiring. He enjoyed playing basketball and singing.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 8, at Temple of Compassion and Deliverance. Bro. Willie Wilson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Camp Creek Cemetery at Guntown. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lucille Garner; three children, Christi Garner, James ""Petey"" Garner and Porsha Garner; four grandchildren, Qwanisha Garner, Quincy Holder, Mariah Clay and Makenzie Traylor; one great-grandchild, Aubrey Morris; six sisters, Rosie Mae Richardson, Shanty Montgomery, Diane Walker of Detroit, Mich., Debra Williams of Starkville, Anna Catherine Scott of Wisconsin and Willie Francis of Chicago; and two brothers, Charles Agnew (Johnnie) of Saltillo and Elder Jerry (Catherine) Montgomery of Lawton, Okla.
