ETTA – James Michael ""Mickey"" Rowell, 57, formerly of Ripley, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in the logging woods in Pontotoc. He was born Dec. 4, 1956, to Sarah Ruth Childs Rowell Jackson and the late James Lockhart Rowell. He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and worked as a logger. He loved to hunt, fish and watch professional bull riding. He was a member of the Old Dallas Hunting Club.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Cobb, Bro. Terry Bateman and Bro. Dan Darling officiating. Burial will be in Peoples Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Delene Kirk of Etta; his mother, Sarah Ruth Jackson of Ripley; one daughter, Melissa Rowell (Ronnie Rowland Jr.) of Falkner; two sons, Mike Rowell and Mark Rowell (Amber), both of Falkner; one stepdaughter, Tammy Kirk of Etta; one stepson, Tim Kirk of Etta; one sister, Vickie Rowell of Ripley; five grandchildren, Carson and Lana Rowland, Tyler, Eli and Cheyenne Rowell; and six stepgrandchildren, Kristi, Deven and Matthew Kirk, Lesa Williams, Hannah Lessell and Kirkland Rutledge.
He was preceded in death by his father; one daughter, Tracey Renae Rowell; and one grandson, Cameron James Rowell.
Pallbearers will be Bill Azlin, Lowell Robbins, Justin Butler, Brian Childs, Carl Rowell, Cary Childs, Kevin Childs and Terry Barkley Jr. Honoring pallbearers will be Tim Kirk, Brad Childs, Allen Wright, Stacy Childs, David Miller, Trent Barkley, Charles Carter, Terry Davis and Wesley Reno.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home.
