RIPLEY – Sarah Frances Cox Dobbs, 86, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. She was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Ripley to Lellon and Lila Mae Johnson Cox. She married Clifford Dobbs on April 8, 1972, in Chicago. As a young adult she moved to St. Louis, then Chicago, where she served her church as an usher. She was a member of Moses Chapel, Piney Wood, FEBC, Rock Hill and Ripley Second Baptist. She served on the Usher Board and the Mother Board for many years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Ripley Second Baptist Church with Pastor Willie Paine officiating. Foster and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her stepfather, Gibson Williams; brother, Willie Lay Cox; and sister, Katherine Cox Geanes.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time.
