BALDWYN – Stephen Lloyd ""Steve"" Phillips Sr., 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born in Greenville. Later his family moved to Tupelo and then to Guntown and Baldwyn. He attended Guntown and Baldwyn schools and joined the United States Marines. He was a car dealer for more than 40 years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and camping. He loved his family and grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Baldwyn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Campbelltown Cemetery.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Mona Phillips of Baldwyn; son, Steve Phillips (Robin) and daughter, Alisha Gamble (Mark), all of Baldwyn; his father, Hester Phillips of Hamilton; sister, Vicky Mitchell (Larry) of Hamilton; brothers, Al Phillips (Susan) of Baldwyn and Andy Phillips (Kelly) of Amory; and grandchildren, Samantha Phillips, Westin Phillips, Lawson Gamble, Meg Gamble and Gavin Gamble.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Phillips, and his grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bishop, Tony Barnes, Rob Burns, Ray Pace, Mark McCreary, Buddy Goodson and Kenneth Webb.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8:30 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home.
