Roger Dale Parker Obituary
SOMERVILLE, Tenn. – Roger Dale Parker, 66, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the National HealthCare Center where he resided for five years. A lifelong resident of Somerville, Tenn., he was born March 24, 1948, in Somerville. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a 1967 graduate of the Fayette County High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the former Lewis Ford Company for 50 years before his retirement in 2008. A Christian, he enjoyed special times with his family and friends and will be remembered for his passion for restoring and working on automobiles.
Services of remembrance will be at 10 a.m. today, June 14, at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville, Tenn., with Bro. David Reeves officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Old Union Cemetery at Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center Main Chapel of Somerville.
He is survived by his son, Chris Parker (Kimberly) of Somerville; three sisters, Betty Jo Voyles of Somerville, Barbara Nell Stafford (William) of Tupelo and Sandra Kay Davis (Jerry) of Oakland; five brothers, Harvey Wayne Parker (Shirley) of Somerville, Ronald Gene Parker of Cordova, Terry Parker of Somerville, Danny Ray Parker (Ginger) of Somerville, Ricky Lynn Parker of Arlington; and his granddaughter, Kaylee Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Addison Parker, Sr. and Margarete Catherine Walls Parker; and three brothers, James Addison Parker Jr., Larry Gene Parker and Jerry Parker.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers are Timmy Parker, Troy Parker, Brent Parker, David Parker, Jimmy Voyles and Mike Voyles.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Old Union Cemetery Association, c/o Harry Wiles, 106 East Marginal, Somerville, TN 38068.
