Addelle Josephine Bynum Obituary
TUPELO – Addelle Josephine Reid Bynum, 99, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at St. Agnes Catholic Hospital in Baltimore, Md., after a long illness. She was the third child of five children born to Rogers J. Reid and Annie Tucker in Tupelo. She was the widow of William Carter Bynum. She was a devoted lifelong member of Lane Chapel CME Church, where she sang contralto in the choir. She was a member of the Women's Society and recipient of many citations and awards. Over the years she sang many solos and performed many duets at other churches around the city of Tupelo. She was a quiet, kind, creative, compassionate and loving person who established strong faith in God and the belief of sharing.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Lane Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Penson officiating. Grayson-Porter's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. Bynum Johnson and John R. Johnson, M.D.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the J.W. Porter's Chapel. Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to service time.
