PITTSBORO – Bobby Gene Baker, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at his residence. He was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Big Creek. He was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church and a retired employee of Brookwood Furniture. He served in the U.S. Army.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J.R. Eaton officiating and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander assisting. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Dorthia Cook Baker, Pittsboro; sons, Bobby Lee Baker (Irene) of Tupelo and Byron Craig Baker (Autumn) of Pittsboro; daughter, Annette Adams (Phil) of LaGrange, Ga.; sister, Martha Faye Massey of Paris; brothers, J.S. Baker and Durell Baker, both of Bruce; grandchildren, Jay Adams and Emily Morris; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Stanton Baker and Raythel Crenshaw Baker; a sister, Lenora James; and two brothers, Shaw Baker and Willie Earl Baker.
Pallbearers will be Danny Baker, Mark Scott Baker, Scott Cook, Billy Ray James, Buddy James and Tony Ruth.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
