CLINTON – Carolyn Ray Breland, 71, left this life of pain and suffering on September 19, 2014, at her daughter's home in Clinton after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Houston, Miss. to Lora B. Ray and Maude Northam Ray on March 6, 1943. She worked as a beautician for over 20 years with Goldie Harrington at Goldie's Beauty Shop in Houston. She retired to provide care for her mother until her mother's death. She was a loving mother and grandmother that was the ""rock"" of the family.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 21, at 3:00 p.m. at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward Breland of Clinton; a daughter, Debra Pepper Stanley and Wrenn Stanley of Clinton; a son, John Breland and Angie Breland of Atoka, Tenn.; grandchildren, Darik and Michelle Stanley of Macon, Ga., Dustin and Katie Stanley of Brandon; and Coen Breland of Atoka, Tenn.; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Twana Joyce Pepper; and her parents, Lora and Maude Ray.
The family wants to express special gratitude to Dr. Gerri Houston, Kevin Tucker, RN and Lashaunda Haymon,CNA all of Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
