JACKSON – Mattie Irene Webb Waugh, 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, from Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was born to Pink Houston and Lomie Irene Hill Webb on Nov. 24, 1924, in Monroe County. She graduated from Becker High School one night and married the Rev. William David Waugh the next night. They had a devoted and happy marriage from 1942 until his death in 1995. She took her role as helper seriously and was a gracious hostess and talented cook. They were at Methodist churches in Becker, Carrollton, Moorhead, Shaw, Ruleville, Meridian, Jackson, Vicksburg, Magnolia, Long Beach and Taylorsville where she lived until moving to the Jackson area in 2012.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Greenbrier United Methodist Church in Becker. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne Ring of Vicksburg; her sister, Dorothy Webb Reid and husband, Miller, of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Jeanelle Webb of Aberdeen and Madine Webb of Amory; niece, Beth Webb Donnell; and nephews, Miller David Reid, Thomas C. Webb, William Wayne Webb and Douglas Edward Webb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Thomas Edward Webb and Edgar Wayne Webb; sister, Clara Helen Webb; son-in-law, William Charles Ring Jr.; and nephew, Kevin Dale Reid.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
