TUPELO – Helen Harris Traylor passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness surrounded by her family. She was a retired employee of North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a lifelong member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, the Golden Girls Choir and a member of the Senior Women Birthday Club. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed family, sewing, cooking and working her puzzle books.
Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Temple of Compassion and Deliverance with Bishop Clarence Parks officiating. Burial will be in Porter's Memorial Park with Grayson-Porter's Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her devoted children, George Preston Traylor of Tupelo, Carolyn Traylor Jamison of Memphis, Deborah Traylor of Tupelo; a special cousin, Taylor B. Harris of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Harris and John Willie Bryd; one daughter, Donna Traylor; and three sisters, Selena Harris, Mary Ella Lee and Mattie Wallace.
Viewing will be 4 p.m. today with family and friends hour 6 until 7 p.m. at J.W. Porter's Chapel. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service on Wednesday
