RIPLEY – Marlin David Richardson, 85, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. He was born Aug. 23, 1928, to William Matthew and Ann Mauney Richardson in Tippah County. He was a merchant in the furniture and grocery store business. He also worked for the city of Ripley in the water department. He was a cattleman and a member of the Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed his herd of registered Angus cattle. He was a member of Spout Springs Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today, June 7, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley. Bro. Randy Latch and the Rev. Richie Lockhart will officiate. Burial will be in Spout Springs Cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ledbetter Richardson of Ripley; one son, Keith Richardson (Denise) of Itta Bena; one daughter, Gwen Richardson of Ripley; one sister, Vivian Medlin of Blue Mountain; two grandchildren, Derick and Jessica; and four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Skyler, Bryan and Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lamont, his twin brother Arlin, Fagin, Jeff and John Bill Richardson; and three sisters, Annie Sue Childs, Lucille Childs and L.A. Tatum.
Pallbearers will be Harry Richardson, Jeff Richardson, Cary Childs, Charles Childs, Roger Childs, Joe Childs and Brad Devore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Givens, Walter Hopper Jr. and Rhonda Jones.
Visitation will continue from 7 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
