MILWAUKEE – Bessie Leola Spight Spears, 95, formerly of Ripley, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. She was born April 15, 1919, in Tippah County to Sammie and Callie Spight. In 1976 she moved to Milwaukee.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Holy Temple Firstborn M.B. Church in Milwaukee. Burial will be in Glen Oaks Cemetery. New Pitts Mortuary of Milwaukee is in charge of arrangements. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is assisting the family locally.
She is survived by six children, Jessie Barkley of Ripley, Hadie Wilder, Joan Blake, Catherine Alexander, Lena Spears and Willie McClain Spears, all of Milwaukee; 24 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 55 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-
grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Spears; her parents; her siblings; four children, W.E. Cox, Odis Cox, Mary Kennon and George Wayne Spears; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Holy Temple Firstborn M.B. Church.
