NEW ALBANY – Carroll Dean Mason, 78, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at his home in New Albany. He was born January 6, 1936, in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Harvey Franklin and Cleo Mattison Mason. He grew up in the Sunflower community south of Clarksdale. He played basketball at Mississippi Delta Jr. College and graduated from Delta State University.

He was a longtime employee of Futorian Furniture, where he was vice president and general manager of manufacturing services.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany and Bethlehem Methodist Church.
A private service was held on Friday, July 11, 2014.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. H.F. Mason (Laura) and Lafayette Mason; one sister, Betty Joyce Mason Williams; two brothers, Glen Mason and Kenneth Mason; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Predeceased family members include his wife of over 59 years, Patricia Mae Johnson Mason; a daughter, Kathy Mason; a son, Carroll Mason II; two sisters, Francis Mason and Lucille Mason Knight; and three brothers, Jack Mason, Leonard Mason and Harvey Mason Jr.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center in New Albany.
