NEW ALBANY – Kittie Mae Pickens, 86, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, in Colorado Springs, Colo., from medical complications.

She was born September 15, 1927, in New Albany, and except for the last six months of her life, lived in Union County for 86 years. She was a mom, furniture seamstress and soul mate to Kermit Pickens who went to be with the Lord in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kermit Pickens Jr. She loved her family very much and loved to garden. She was a member of First Baptist Church of New Albany and graduated from Macedonia High School.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheri, and husband, Tony Barnes, of Colorado Springs; four grandchildren, Jessica Cardamone and her husband, Jeremy, of Lincoln, Neb., Ashley Linares and her husband, Simon, of Colorado Springs, Robison Barnes of Cleburne, Texas, and Scott Barnes of Colorado Springs; and one great-grandchild, Weston Linares.
The viewing will be Friday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at United Funeral Home in New Albany. The funeral will be at United on Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Johnny Rakestraw and D. Ray Taylor officiating. For online condolences, visit unitedfuneralservice.com.
