OKOLONA – John Rufus ""Poe Boy"" Stanfield, 65, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at a family residence. He was born December 25, 1948, to the late Fulton Stanfield and Nina M. Hill in Houston. He was a lifetime resident of Okolona, former employee of Futorian and a free-hearted person who never met a stranger.

Survivors include his caregiver, Lucinda Stanfield; daughters, Freda Stanfield of Atlanta, Ga., and Kyetina' Stanfield Griffin of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, John Stanfield of Okolona, Roderick Stanfield of Atlanta, Ga., Monshey Love of Jackson; sisters, Lillie Mae Stanfield of Houston; brothers, Lee Stanfield (Mamie) of Okolona, Henry C. Stanfield of Okolona, Wayne Buchanan (Ruby) of Okolona.
Services will be today, August 27, 2014, at Unity Temple in Houston with Apostle Eugene Sacus officiating at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue until service time. Burial will be in Stanfield Cemetery. Williams Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
