Dorothy Mae (Scurlock) Thompson Obituary
     CORDOVA, Tenn. – Dorothy Mae Scurlock Thompson, 60, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. A native of Batesville, she was the daughter of Annie Mae Butler and Shedrick Scurlock Sr. She was formerly of Oxford as well as Batesville. She worked as a cook at the University of Mississippi. She loved to cook, shop and talk with everyone.
     A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville with Dr. Zannie Leland Jr. officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Church Cemetery in Batesville. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Sardis is in charge of arrangements.
     She is survived by her mother, Annie Mae Butler of Batesville; two daughters, Alicia Buchanan of Cordova, Tenn., and Evelyn Thompson of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Leon Ross of Oxford and Tracey Scurlock of Batesville; four sisters, Deborah Bean of Batesville and Linda McBride, Wanda Scurlock and Teresa Grissom, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; five brothers, Robert Pinkins of Batesville, Larry Scurlock, Shedrick Scurlock Jr., Fredrick Scurlock and Tommy Scurlock, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
     Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
