Here are a few words about my Aunt Christine's heritage. Reading through some memoirs written by my mother, Christine's sister, reminds me of the rich heritage of faith, education, and integrity that we as their children have inherited. Christine, Virginia, and Billie Ann were raised on a farm in West Virginia. Their mother, Fannie, was one of seven children from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia who all received a college education. She married a farmer who didn't go to school after 4th grade, but was one of the most respected men of Greenbrier County. Christine's dad was on the board of his church, was on the board of his bank, and even became the Chairman of the County Board of Education. They encouraged all three of their daughters to go to college, and took Christine and Virginia to West Virginia Wesleyan in the cattle truck - with their belongings packed in a trunk in the back! Christine's mother encouraged her girls to read, and always had magazines and books for them to read, even before they got electricity in the 1940's. They took a daily newspaper in the days when it was delivered by mail on horseback! Christine and her sisters grew up knowing hard work, honesty, and love were the foundations for a good life, and they worshipped God each week in the church founded by their grandfather. Aunt Christine was one of the "Great Generation" - an example of a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend for all of us.

Mrs. Gentry used to be our neighbor. She was one of the sweetest women I have ever met. I remember seeing her many times putting clothes out on the line and tending to her flowers. She will be missed very much! Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

Mrs. Gentry is the mother of my best buddy Mike Gentry. She was so very sweet. My youngest, ShelbyMack and I took her a Christmas Nativity Scene on Christmas at Adam's Place and ShelbyMack pretty much re-decorated her room. She was soo sweet and kind and I am honored that Mike asked me to be a pallbearer at her service. RIP "Mrs. G". Thaddeaus Scott Mason
