Donald Weir Glazier, Jr.
Donald Weir Glazier, Jr., age 58, died April 2, 2013 in Jackson, TN.
He was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and later resided in Murfreesboro and Jackson, TN.
Mr. Glazier was interred in Memphis National Cemetery on April 6th, following his funeral with full military honors. Msgr. Thomas Kirk of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis officiated.
As a Vietnam-era veteran
, Donald dedicated his life in service to his country. He served in the US Navy
aboard super aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Ranger, the aircraft carrier featured in the film Top Gun. His military career involved extensive sea service in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
He graduated from Bartlett High School in Memphis, where he was a member of ROTC and the band. He was a Boy Scout and altar boy. Throughout his life, Donald shared his love and kindness with all who knew him.
Donald is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Metts (Vergil) and Rose Glazier, all of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his uncle, Eugene Mathes, Jr. of Memphis, TN; aunt, Shirley Schaffer of Gladwin, MI; and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Weir Glazier of Holland, MI and Rose Mathes Glazier of Knoxville; and his grandparents, Eugene and Lillie Mathes of Memphis, TN, and Charles Glazier of Toronto, and Ethel Glazier of Gladwin, MI.
