Mr. James E. Hines

Mr. James E. Hines, age 91 of Smyrna, TN, formerly of McMinnville, TN, passed from this life on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Christian Care Center of Rutherford County, of a brief illness.

James was born in Huntsville, AL on June 27, 1921, a son of the late Lemmer (Perry) and Urby Hines.

He is the husband of Doshie P. Hines of Smyrna, TN, formerly of McMinnville, TN.

He was a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ in Smyrna, TN. He worked as a Supervisor at Kingsboro and was a farmer, where he raised cattle and garden crops. He served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner on the Galland 361 Ship.

James is survived by a daughter, Jean and husband Edwin Gleason of Smyrna, TN; a sister, Virginia and husband Jesse King of McMinnville, TN. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Rhonda Egerton, Dianna Collinsworth, Kerry Gleason, Kimberly Cagle; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Bannister, Kerry Douglas Gleason, Kristi Gleason, Johnathan Gleason, Timothy Egerton, Nichole Egerton and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Urby and Lemmer (Perry) Hines; two sisters, Rosie Rogers, and one infant sister; one brother, Franklin Hines; one infant grandson, Edwin Keith Gleason.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 19, 20123 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Mr. James E. Hines will be held at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, McMinnville, TN at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 with Tim Egerton officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Morrison, TN with graveside rites by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
