Michael Thomas Gavin

Michael Thomas Gavin, age 66, passed away on January 9, 2013.

Michael is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Rickle (Gavin); his mother, M. Shirley Gavin of Cocoa Beach, FL; his eight siblings; 6 children, David, Kerri, Angus, Reese, Jody, Angelo and Tyler; and 6 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Gavin, Jr. and daughter, Sarah Garcia.

Besides his love of rock and roll music, and reading, Michael held an English degree from Rutgers University and a Master's Degree in History from M.T.S.U. From 1972-2002, Michael served as President and General Manager of The Farm Building Company in Summertown, TN, which specialized in moving and restoring log buildings. For the past 10 years, he has been the Preservation Specialist for the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area managed by the Center for Historic Preservation at MTSU.

Visitation and remembrance with family will be on January 19, 2013 from 1-4 p.m., at The Stones River National Battlefield, 3501 Old Nashville Hwy., with a Memorial service at 4 p.m.
