S. Allman Obituary

S. J. Allman, Sr.

S.J. Allman, Sr., age 90 of Murfreesboro, died Monday, August 1, 2011.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Oscar Pruitt and Maggie Jacobs Allman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rube Lee Reed Allman, who died in 1999, and a grandson, Cody Walker, who died in 2005.

Mr. Allman is survived by sons, S. J. "Sonny" Allman, Jr. of Christiana, TN, Larry Allman and his wife Joy Vail of the Deason community; daughters, Jean Adams and her husband Delbert, Peggy Thornton and her husband Jay, and Gayle Allman, all of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Octavia Pate of Murfreesboro, TN; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Mark Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with family serving as Pallbearers.

Mr. Allman was a member of the Baptist Church and a retired farmer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beesley Animal Humane Foundation, Inc. in memory of Mr. Allman.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, (615) 893-5151. Online condolences may be made at www.woodfinchapel.com
