Sidney C. Adams

Sidney C. Adams, age 79 of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday at his home.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Loyd and Mary Cook Adams. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Messick Adams; a son, Mark Adams; sisters, Betty Sanford and Nancy Batey.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Simpson Adams; a son, Todd Adams and his wife Karen of Murfreesboro; daughter-in-law, Kim Adams of Chattanooga; a sister, Jane Johnson and her husband Chuck of Killen, AL; step-son, Ron Simpson and his wife Susan of Murfreesboro; step-daughter, Melanie Whitaker and her husband Jackie of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Sydney and Hannah Adams, Josh and Jonathan Adams, Shannon Bevins, Ali Simpson, Matt and Lauren Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Turner Bevins.

Mr. Adams was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ. He was a 1953 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School and received his BS degree from MTSU. He retired as an engineer from AEDC.

Active Pallbearers will be Josh and Jonathan Adams, Ron Simpson, Jackie and Matt Whitaker, and Dustin Duggin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lane Johnson, Bill Bradbury, Tim Holder, Jason Kroll, Carl McKnight, Bruce Dean and Velton Jordan.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Reverends Dean Sisk, Charles McKnight and Todd Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
