Evelyn Bynum Ward

Evelyn Bynum Reed West Ward, age 90, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at The Carriage House in Snowflake, Arizona.

Evelyn was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Charles Parmer Reed and Ela Clara Bynum Reed. She was born on November 15, 1923 in the Cripple Creek area and was raised in the Bradyville community of Cannon County. She had lived for the past four decades in Lascassas and was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ at Lascassas.

After completing high school in 1942, she taught for one year at the Bradyville School before moving to Detroit where she worked at Bendix Aviation. After the end of World War II, she began a career with Michigan Bell and retired from AT&T in 1981 with over 32 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James Robert Ward;a step-son, Robert Eddie Ward (Arden); her sister-in-law, Faye Reed; and the father of her children, Ronald Beaver West.

Survivors include her children, Rhonda West Hale (Winslow) of Louisville, Craig Reed West (Debra) of Snowflake, Arizona; a brother, Keith Kenyon Reed; sisters-in-law, Ann Todd of Woodbury, Mary West of Wayne, Michigan, Dorothy West Wood of Brighton, Michigan; a step-son, Howard Harris Ward of Antioch, Tennessee; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank the many individuals in Middle Tennessee, Louisville and Snowflake, who assisted our mother during the past few years. The expertise, compassion and kindness these individuals have shown our family is greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Woodfin's Chapel in Murfreesboro. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. by her son, Craig West, & David West, her former pastor, in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of Christ at Lascassas or the donor's favorite charity.
