Erik M. Groom

Erik M. Groom, age 52, passed away after a long and courageous battle against melanoma cancer on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Erik was an entrepreneur in the restaurant industry, including the popular upscale restaurant The Trace, and historic Mere Bulles located in downtown, Nashville. He also attended M.T.S.U. He was a native of Rutherford County, but lived most of his life in Davidson County.

Erik is preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Groom and sister, Gretchen Groom; grandparents, R. T. and Daisy Groom; also preceded in death by Buford and Margaret Groom Turpin.

He is survived by Mr. J. Tom Groom, who lovingly raised Erik; his son, John Thomas Groom of Benton, KY; step-daughter, Olivia Gammel; two brothers, Robert T. Groom III and John Groom; two sisters, Penelape Groom Woody and Sally Groom Smith; cousins, Dr. Buford Paul Turpin, Jr., Paul Turpin, Elizabeth Turpin Hamby, Ian Turpin and their families.

The funeral service for Erik will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Jennings & Ayers, with Pam Pilot officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
