Lillian Melton Powell

Lillian Melton Powell, age 93, died June 30, 2014. She was a native of Rutherford County and was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Sewell, and second husband, George Powell; parents, Arthur and Sallie Lillian Robinson Melton; grandson, Terry Sewell Jarrell; brothers, Ruel, Foster, B, Paul and Carl Melton; sisters, Jennie Mae Ferrell, Marion Sepal Melton. Mrs. Powell was a member of Sharpsville Church of Christ and had worked at Mitchell Nelson School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her children, Linda Jarrell of Murfreesboro, Eddie Sewell and wife Annie of Athens AL; grandchildren, Luke, Mark and Steve Jarrell, Sharon Boykin, Jennifer Meadows, Stacy Sewell; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Jack Melton and wife Betty of Winchester, TN; sister, Virgie Leonard and husband Ed of Murfreesboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother James Lively will officiate. Family will serve as Pallbearers. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, (615) 893-5151
