Jim B. Gonzales

Jim B. Gonzales, age 79 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2012.

Born on November 17, 1933, he is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Nora Gonzales of Wickenburg, AZ.

Jim is survived by three daughters, Robin (Bob) Meyer, Jania Doud, Sandra (Greg) VerBeek; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jim retired from the United States Air Force after serving his country with one tour of duty in Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Jim then moved to Murfreesboro and pursued his Bachelors and Masters degree in Education. He taught in the Rutherford County School system for many years before retiring. He was a skilled wood artisan. Jim was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish and the Fraternal Order of the Knights of Columbus.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 1-3 p.m., at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro. A Memorial service held with Military Honors will follow at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
