James C. Harris Jr.
James C. Harris, Jr., loving husband, devoted dad, and awesome papa, departed this earth for his Heavenly home on December 23rd, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cordell Harris, Sr. and Martha Ina Brown Harris.
James graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Nuclear engineering, received his masters from Virginia Tech, and served in the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, VA. He worked at Virginia Electric and Power Co. and lived in Richmond, VA for 16 years, before returning to his childhood home where he has lived the past 29 years. Mr. Harris owned and operated Capucine's Gift Shoppe and Homestead Florists in Murfreesboro before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hopkins Harris; two children, Cory (Tracy) Harris and Cappy (David) Preston; three grandchildren, McKinley Caroline Preston, Grayson Harris Preston, and Ella Campbell Harris; sister, Brownie (Donald) Alexander, and precious nieces and nephews.
James was a member of Cainsville United Methodist Church, where he was the Pianist for 29 years. He taught adult Sunday school and Children's Church every Sunday.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., at Cainsville United Methodist Church, 16906 Cainsville Road, Lascassas, TN 37085 with Pastor Jim Newman officiating. A private burial will follow with Grayson Preston, Joshua Earp, Samuel Earp, Matthew Alexander, Kevin Earp, and Donald Ray Alexander serving as Pallbearers.
