Kendrick Sloan, age 83, passed away January 11, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
He was a native of Columbia, TN, but lived most of his life in Murfreesboro, TN and attended the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He served in the 51st Signal Battalion in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and he worked for J C Penny's for 20 years then later owned and managed Pigg and Parsons Mens' Clothing.
Ken was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Sue Sloan and later, Dorothy Harrison; parents, Kendrick Gray Sloan and Helen Farrington Sloan, and brother, Jack Sloan.
He is survived by son, Bruce Sloan; step-son, Lance (Donna) Harrison; step-daughter, Pamela (Robbie) Calvo and niece, Shannon Sloan (Michael) Gilchrist.
Ken loved to play golf and was an avid sports fan. He was an active supporter of MTSU athletics. He was active in the community with the Exchange Club, and was generous with his time and his heart. His smile and kind personality was a blessing to all those who knew him.
A Memorial service with military honors will be held on January 18, 2013 at 3 p.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. James K. Polk Van Zandt officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Ken asked that his friends and family send memorial gifts to the Exchange Club Family Center, St. Paul's Building Fund, Center for the Arts, or Beesley Animal Foundation.
